2011-03-09 Mississauga, ON, CAN

reviewed by Donna

Finally, I am writing my review of the incredible show this past Wednesday at the Living Arts Centre in Mississauga Ontario.

I had been sooo looking forward to this show since buying my tickets waaay back in June, I think it was. This is the closest the CTs have come to my home, as I live in Mississauga. I was supposed to be going with my sister and mother, but my Mom was actually going away on vacation this week, so instead we were bringing our friend Jill who had never seen or heard them before.
We got there a little early and had a drink in the lobby. The start of the show was even delayed about 10 minutes, not sure if it was because of the weather which was absolutely dreadful.
We finally went in and took our seats, front row pretty much dead centre. I saw Vera right away in the seat right beside ours, so I introduced myself, as we had never met before. We both seem to LOVE the front row though! :-)
I don't remember the exact set list, but it was one of the best I've ever heard them perform. I couldn't believe when they started to sing "The Contender", one of my very favourites that I haven't heard performed live in a few years.
They did a lot of the usual favourites. I don't know if any of the songs were from the new album, as I'm not too sure of the titles. I think I did hear a new song, but not sure if it was just 'new to me'.
Daryl played the guitar a lot, which I absolutely love!

At one point, only James was on the stage introducing the background to "Come What May"...he said something about looking out into the audience and seeing familiar faces, and then he proceeded to mention "Donna, Leanne and Jill" along with some other regulars. Our friend Jill was absolutely stunned, I had to elbow her to say "that's us!"...she was completely blown away at the shout-out, and thought it was the neatest thing ever. There were many times during the show when she would just whisper 'wow' after a song ended. Yes, I do believe the CTs have a new fan.

Of course, Leanne and I expected that they would end the show with "All out of Love" as they often do, and we especially look forward to this as we first discovered the guys when they opened for Air Supply about 7 years that song has special meaning for us. What we DIDN'T expect was when James was introducing the song, talking about its cheesiness, etc, he said something along the lines of "we are doing this at the request of Donna and Leanne"...we just cracked up, and our friend Jill's jaw must've hit the floor at that point.

The guys sounded incredible...the venue was great too, the acoustics were perfect! My sis couldn't stay for the meet-and-greet but Jill and I did. We went to James first as I really wanted to thank him SO much for the was so nice that they did that. I figured that they knew our names from Barb passing them along, but I had no idea that they actually knew who we are as far as the "Air Supply" connection, but clearly James remembered that. We then went to chat with Matthew who was very gracious and signed our program. We had forgotten to ask James to sign when we were chatting so we went back and lined up for him again. When we finally got to Daryl, I asked if he would mind taking a pic with me. Jill was teasing me that I was grinning from ear to ear in the photo ;-)
We also went to chat with Colm for a bit, he is so sweet and such a great addition to the group. What a great opportunity for such a young guy! I hope he is with them for a very long time.

We had asked them if they had another show the next night and they said they were appearing on Rogers on Thurs morning, which is a local Mississauga community station. I set up my VCR to tape it, but I must've misheard the time because they weren't on the program during the time I taped. Ah well...

It was such a fun evening, and really glad we got the chance to chat with the guys afterwards, they are always so kind and accommodating to their fans. Can't wait for the next time! They did say they'd be returning to Canada later this year, but not sure if it was just the west coast or if they'd be back in Ontario too. Sure hope so!
