2008-01-26 Hardenberg

reviewed by Rianne

I just got home from the concert in Hardenberg; it was quite a long trip there and back, but well worth it. To start with the best news of the evening: the venue, which seats about 400 people, was practically sold out!:) The venue, called "De Voorveghter" is an enormous building that also houses a movie theatre. Not long after I arrived the audience started to arrive as well, and by the time I took my
seat to the side of the hall the place really was full, but for a few seats here and there. I always love it when it's such a full house, and I think it must be far more motivating for the guys than a half-full theatre, however enthusiastic the people in that half-full theatre might be!

Afterwards, the director of the theatre agreed with me that the concert had gone down a storm, and he is actually thinking about getting them back for next year!
The song list was the same as in Vlaardingen, but I'll just copy it down for completeness….

- Song For Ireland
- Finnegan's Wake (NEW!!)
- You Raise Me Up
-
An Cailin Rua

Anecdotes:
- Our brand new musical director did absolutely great again. I think he felt a little more confident this evening (CT audience doesn't bite….), and I really hope he (and Robbie) enjoy themselves during this tour. Such a long tour sure is a baptism of fire if ever there was one!
- James persuaded me to mention that Daryl's pronunciation of the next city on the tour list (which he announced on stage…..) made it sound like….. Nah. Let's just say that the city is called "Bussum". And use your imagination – it sure gave the audience a laugh!! (and for the record: it's actually pronounced Bus-sum - the first half as in the vehicle and the second half exactly as in the math problem).:)
- Matthew and James mentioned Kenya on stage, which prompted quite a few people to come and see the folder and generated € 30.

And finally: there's a picture of the evening in the gallery of the official sitehttp://www.celtictenors.com/gallery
